I was
born in 1966 and raised in the small town of Conway, Pennsylvania. While in
school, I was a member of both the basketball and track teams. I also played
flute in the concert and marching bands. After high
school, I spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Then it
was off to college. While serving as a medic in the Pennsylvania Army National
Guard, I managed to earn a degree in environmental conservation from
California University of Pennsylvania. I've had various jobs including working
in a deli and teaching at a residential camp for kids and teens. Currently,
I'm employed at a printed plastics company. The phrase that best describes me
is, perhaps, "jack of all trades, master of none".
When I'm not working, besides my drawing and photography, I enjoy many outdoor
activities. I'm also our unofficial family historian. The greatest year in my
life was 1999. That was the year that I discovered God's truth and accepted
Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
The only art classes I ever took were the ones
required in school. I passed those classes only because I completed the
assignments. If you could see some of the stuff I produced . . . it was awful!
I blame that on myself. When it comes to my "art", I always hated being told
what I had to do and when I had to have it completed. Some people can thrive
on expectations and deadlines for these kinds of projects, but not me. One of
the reasons I began to dabble at drawing was to fill down time in the
military. No matter where I was, I could always have a bit of paper and a
pencil. The drawings presented at this site are the product of years of
practice.
The main reason I began taking pictures was to preserve
special family occasions and places I visited. My first camera was one of
those little 110 cameras. With that camera, I learned a lot about how to frame
my subject and not much else. I now use a 35mm camera with various lenses and
filters. Besides photographing the bigger picture, I also like looking at the
smaller details. I found out you can learn more about the people, places, and
things by looking at the smaller parts of the whole.
I hope I haven't put any of my visitors to
sleep. Enjoy your visit to the Gallery. Please take the time to visit my
contact page and let me know what you think, not only about this site as a
whole, but also about my photography and artwork. |
