Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable
- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. --

ABOUT CROSSROSE FRIENDS CHURCH |
| CrossRose Friends Church |
|
CrossRose Friends Church
is a small house church located in southwestern Pennsylvania, established
in January of 2008. Although there are many Christian churches of various
denominations throughout the area, the Society of Friends (Quakers) is the
least represented. Our church was established as a meeting place for those
who would like to experience the presence of God in a small,
family-oriented setting. We worship in the style set forth by George Fox -
in a simple manner and by the lead of the Holy Spirit. This means there are
often no set sermons to be preached and that, by the congregation sitting
quietly and waiting upon the Lord, one or more people may be led by the
Holy Sprit to speak, in turn, about one or more Biblical topics. We
recognize the fact that all members of the Body of Christ may be so led and
offer our members the chance to speak as they feel led. Time is set aside
at the end of each meeting for a discussion about what has been taught
during that meeting. |
| Ministries |
|
At
this time, CrossRose Friends Church maintains three ministries. The first
is our church as described above. Second is our internet outreach. This
outreach was established as a means to reach the world, via the internet,
with the Gospel message (the message of salvation through Jesus Christ),
the Biblical truths, and to answer questions about the Gospel, our
teachings, and the Society of Friends. Whether you're a Christian or not,
we're here to answer your questions. Feel free to contact us. Our third
ministry is taking the Gospel message and our teachings to the street.
We're not the typical "Bible-thumpers" people associate with street corner
preachers nor do we work door-to-door, handing people a "sales pitch" as to
why people should become Quakers. Our goal is to strike up conversations,
while we serve others, which may in turn lead to the opportunity to share
the Gospel with those we're serving. |
| Our pastor |
|
Our
current pastor is Sheila Rae Myers. Although most denominations view the
pastor as the unquestioned leader of a particular church, Sheila views her
duties more as a fellow servant of those within the congregation and as a
guide for the spiritual growth of members, believes that a gentle guidance and
loving example is the best way to teach others the ways of God, and as a
pastor she's to act as the main guiding force in establishing and
accomplishing the mission of the church and its various outreach programs,
as well as keeping meetings for worship organized. For more about Sheila,
you can read here short biography on our "Meet Our Staff" page and her
attached testimony. |
| The CrossRose Logo |
|
Our logo was created before we even decided on the name for our church.
The logo has varying layers of symbolism, but the truth is, we just liked
the design and it was only after its creation that we realized the deeper
symbolism. The cross is a reflection of the sacrifice God made and the
atoning blood of Christ which cleanses our sins and is the road to
salvation. The rose has long been associated as a symbol of love, in this
case, the love of Christ. The thorns of the rosebush are a representation
of the crown of thorns that was placed on Christ's head while he was
being mocked. A rose can't continue to be a rose, at least not without
decaying, if it's not a part of the rosebush. Once clipped off, the rose
begins to die. Christians are described as a branch of the vine, which is
Jesus Christ. Without being attached to the vine, we'd wither and die. So
the rose on the bush is also symbolic of our reliance on and our
attachment to our Lord. |
