Dear Dee,
You passed away many years ago, but I still remember your smiling
face. You were always there to lend support when we kids needed a ride, an
idea for a school project, or a good laugh. You weren't my real mother,
but you treated me as one of your own.
Since you've left, you've missed a lot. Michelle and Gilbert have
succeeded in all their endeavors. They've grown in ways I know you'd be
proud to see. Though the family ties here are broken, they know they'll
see you again where the bonds can never be severed. They'll remember you
for all you've done and tell their kids about what a wonderful mother you
were and tell them the stories you told them.
Speaking of children, yes, you're a grandmother. I guess they'd call
you Granny or maybe Grandma. They're all beautiful children and I think
they take after you in their love of life. I don't know a lot about
Gilbert's kids, but I know Michelle's have your energy and sense of humor
- true Dever's. You should see how big they're all getting. Of course,
Michelle and Gilbert would tell you they're not as grown as they think.
I guess this letter isn't really necessary. You're up there in Heaven
watching over all that your kids are accomplishing. You can also see all
what your grandkids are doing - watching them play, struggle with school
work, or just growing up. You laugh when they laugh, cry when they cry.
It's such a wonderful thought to know that you're still able to share in
their lives. We must remember that to help us overcome our sadness.
Are you making jelly for Jesus? Are you canning veggies for God? Oh,
just taking it easy! I thought so. Say hello to my Father for me.
See you later.
Love from your friend,
Sheila |
