Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable
- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. --

WHEN JESUS RETURNS |
|
There are religions that say
that Jesus was not the Messiah, while others say that he never existed in
the first place. We, as Christians, believe that Jesus died upon the cross
to cover our sins when others say that he was just a good and kind man who
taught the people about God. The Bible, for the Christian, puts an end to
all debates on the subject.
As Christians, we all know the story of Jesus being born in a stable,
his ministry during his short life, and the his death on Calvary's cross. We
wait in great anticipation of his returning. At this point, there are also
differences of beliefs as to how and when this will happen. But be assured,
everyone, believer and non-believer alike, will know when he returns. And
this is what I'd like to address with this writing.
I've read too many articles and books and seen too many television
programs about how someone knows that Jesus has secretly returned to earth
and walked among men. He has, supposedly, since returned to the side of God.
If Jesus returned secretly, how did the witness know about it in the first
place? Never listen to the false teachings of people who spread stories like
this just to make money and get their fifteen minutes of fame. You only need
to read God's Word to know that the person doesn't know what they're talking
about. At the present time, Jesus only dwells on earth in the hearts and
souls of his followers. His presence is felt in the form of the Holy Spirit,
our guide sent from God. Jesus' only and final return isn't going to be a
covert operation.
Then there are the people, both men and women, who claim to be Jesus
Christ. Unfortunately, these people have a way of creating followers and
believers from the more neglected citizens and those who haven't yet found
what they're seeking in the way of the truth. I have a word of warning for
these "want-to-be"s - God doesn't have a sense of humor when it comes to
this type of blasphemy. These people are the founders of cults that want
your money and whatever else they can get from you. Many unspeakable acts of
cruelty and even murders have been carried out because of the misplaced
beliefs of their followers. When the Jesus does return, everyone, whether
they're committed to Christ or not, will know they're in the presence of the
Lord before he ever utters a word.
When the Bible tells us that Christ will return "like a thief in the
night", this doesn't mean he's going to sneak up on us at 2 o'clock in the
morning. It's telling us that we don't when, "what day and hour", that he'll
come again. No matter what you're doing at that precise moment, no matter
how deep in thought, or how distracted you are by the noises of the traffic
around you or the kids arguing in the backyard, you'll suddenly be aware of
something out of the ordinary. The presence of the Almighty God will
surround you and permeate you're very soul. The faithful will rejoice and
the, until then, disbelievers will tremble in fear. God is so omnipresent
that every living being will see him at the same instant. His returning will
be a day of unimaginable beauty and glory. |
